Santa Lucia is a small village (pop. 3,174 inhabitants (Nov 2005)) which is one of the modern towns developed during the 20th century on the island of Malta. By virtue of an article which appeared in Government Gazette of 7 July 1961 the area between Tal-Barrani (Tarxien By-Pass) and Luqa By-Pass. Santa Lucija was named after a 16th century chapel located in the vicinity.

On the outskirts of the town is a quaint Chinese Garden, the Garden of Serenity, laid out in the early 1990s.
